WADA puts faith on ICC roadmap to resolve BCCI-NADA conflict

Almost a year ago, WADA had urged the ICC to find a solution to make the BCCI NADA compliant.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) which is a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code, has prepared a roadmap to resolve the concerns between the BCCI and NADA, the national anti-doping organisation in India.

The ICC has shown the BCCI-specific roadmap to the World Anti-Doing Agency (WADA). In turn, the BCCI has proposed its plan of action to the NADA.

Almost a year ago, WADA had urged the ICC to find a solution to make the BCCI NADA compliant.

A WADA spokesman told Sportstar : “As a result (the roadmap prepared by the ICC) the Independent Compliance Review Committee has agreed to defer further review of this issue until the success of that roadmap can be fully assessed. The WADA is in communication with the ICC.”

Asked about WADA’s line of action on Prithvi Shaw being given a eight month ban, the spokesman said: “We have no comment to make at the moment. We will review the case, as we always do, and follow the usual process accordingly.”

The BCCI, through its CEO Rahul Johri and Anti-Doping Manager Dr. Abhijeet Salvi, is likely to meet the sports ministry officials and explain its position.
