CA supports ICC bid for Commonwealth Games

The International Cricket Council's bid for the inclusion of Women's T20 cricket into the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022 has received support from Cricket Australia.

Australia bagged its fourth world title by beating England in the finals of World T20.

Cricket Australia, in a statement released on Monday,  has extended its support to the International Cricket Council's bid for the inclusion of Women's T20 cricket into the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022.

Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts said, “It’s exciting to think that cricket could potentially feature at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

“It is no surprise that the popularity of the women’s game is at an all-time high in Australia, both in terms of participation at the community level and fans following women’s international cricket and the WBBL.

“We fully support the ICC’S bid to have Women’s T20I cricket included in this event, and know if it was to happen, it would be a great outcome for 2022, Commonwealth Games, and the future of cricket for women, men, girls and boys worldwide.”`
