I-League: Indian Arrows downs Mohun Bagan 3-1

Abhijit Sarkar, K.P. Rahul and Rohit Danu got on the scoresheet as Indian Arrows ended its I-league 2018-19 season with a 3-1 win over Mohun Bagan.

Indian Arrows dented the pride of Mohun Bagan dealing out a 3-1 defeat to the former champion at its home here at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday.

Mohun Bagan went ahead early in the first half through Azharuddin Mallick but Arrows found the equaliser by the half-hour mark when Abhijit Sarkar struck the target for the visitor. Arrows showed greater aggression and purpose after the change of ends and found two more goals through K.P. Rahul and Rohit Danu to complete the fine win.

Arrows thus avenged the 0-2 loss it suffered against Mohun Bagan in the first phase at home.

Mohun Bagan opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Azharuddin Mallick.
 

Arrows, which is the youth side drawn out of the squad that played the Under-17 World Cup in 2017, showed a lot of maturity playing against professional sides and tallied 21 points gained from six wins and three draws and eleven draws in a total of 20 outings.

With most of the sides yet to complete their assignments, Arrows remained in the seventh spot in the current standings. On the other hand Mohun Bagan remained in the sixth spot with 26 points from 19 matches.  The result
