Dudu Omagbemi came to his side's rescue with an 88th-minute equaliser.

East Bengal's quest for an I-League title suffered a jolt when it was held to a 2-2 draw, away from home, by Shillong Lajong.

Nigerian forward Dudu Omagbemi scored a brace to salvage a point for the Kolkata side after the home team had come from behind to lead with 20 minutes left for the final whistle. A win would have taken East Bengal, which started the day as fourth on the table, to the top.

Dudu gave his side the lead in the 20th minute, but goals from Alibanbha Dohling (49th minute) and Samela Lalmuanpuia (69th minute) overturned the deficit for Lajong.

Lajong, playing its final match of this season, seemed to be heading for a victory but Dudu struck an 88th-minute equaliser. The draw did not alter its position on the table (sixth).
