Indian women's national team announced for COTIF Cup

A 22-member squad was announced for the upcoming COTIF Cup on Friday.

The Indian women's national team, which was training in New Delhi ahead of the COTIF Cup, joined by AIFF President Praful Patel, in New Delhi.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced a 22-member squad for the COTIF Cup to be held later this month in Spain.

Bala Devi, who was reportedly among the seven Manipuri footballers boycotting the national team over differences with coach Maymol Rocky and assistant Choaba Devi, was included in the squad, after she was called up for the preparatory camp in June.

She was the star of the recently concluded Indian Women's League (IWL) where she top-scored with 26 goals in seven matches.

Defender Dalima Chhibber, midfielder Indumathi Kathiresan and striker Sandhiya Ranganathan were the notable absentees in the squad.

Crystal Pinto, Archana A., Lako Phuti, Komal Kumari and Sumithra Kamaraj were the other players left out from the initial squad which was called for the preparatory camp at the Jahwaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

- India jumps six places to reach 57th spot -

The newly released FIFA World Rankings saw the Indian women's national team placed at the 57th spot, making a jump of six places.

The Indian women are now ranked 11th in Asia, with Australia topping the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), ranked 8th in the world.
