Bikash Jairu was the man of the match.

Kingfisher East Bengal routed relegated Mumbai FC 4-0 in its last Hero I-League match at the Cooperage Stadium on Saturday. The Kolkata team dominated the match and led 2-0 at the interval.

The victory ensured East Bengal finished at the third position in the table with 33 points from 18 matches while Mumbai FC finished its engagements with 13 points from 18 matches.

The first goal was scored by Bikash Jairu in the seventh minute. Jairu timed his run to perfection and slotted the ball past rival goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani.

Right on the stroke of half-time East Bengal scored its second goal — Willis Plaza adding his name to the score-sheet.

10 minutes into the second half Bikash Jairu, who had scored East Bengalʼs first, laid up Wedson Anselme with a superb back-heel. A grateful Wedson made no mistake to slot it home.

It got worse for Mumbai FC after 10 minutes when Plaza made it 4-0 for East Bengal from 25 yards.
