India’s U-16 national football team started the four-nation international tournament with a 2-1 victory over Jordan in Serbia on Wednesday.

After conceding in the second minute of the match, Bibiano Fernandes' boys made a strong comeback in the 17th minute, thanks to a finish by midfielder Ridge.

Rohit Danu scored India’s second goal nine minutes later which eventually proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Jordan's early goal was nullified in the form of Ridge who netted the equaliser after Vikram squared the ball from the edge of the box.

A mistake from the Jordanian goalkeeper from Ridge's effort allowed Danu to slot in the winner.

After the break, Jordan rung in a couple of changes in its quest to get itself back in the game. However, it was Givson who came very close to scoring India’s third goal in the 53rd minute but the goalie tipped it out of danger.

India will next face hosts Serbia on Saturday.
