England's striker Marcus Rashford celebrates scoring England's second goal during the World Cup 2018 qualification match against Slovakia.

England came from behind to defeat Slovakia 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley on Monday.

Marcus Rashford and Eric Dier scored for England in a match which all but assured the Three Lions a place in the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.

Stanislav Lobotka had given the visitor a third minute lead, firing past keeper Joe Hart. However, Dier levelled the scores for England in the 37th minute from a corner.

Rashford netted the winner in the 59th minute with a 25-yard strike to ensure that there was no slip-up, and the team went home with all the three points.

Germany completes rout of Norway

Germany thumped Norway 6-0 thanks to goals from Mesut Ozil, Julian Draxler, Timo Werner, Leon Goretzka and Mario Gomez.

Nigeria survives scare

Nigeria survived a late Cameroon onslaught to draw 1-1 in Yaounde Monday and move closer to qualifying.

Moses Simon put Nigeria ahead on 30 minutes and substitute Vincent Aboubakar equalised from a 75th-minute penalty at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo to spark a rally by the host.

Unbeaten leader Nigeria moved to 10 points from four matches in Group B and a home win over Zambia on October 7 will clinch a sixth World Cup appearance.
