Guimaraes happy with point against FC Goa

Mumbai City FC coach Alexandre Guimaraes looked on the bright side of the draw against FC Goa, "We're still in the top four. Sometimes, when you can't win, you better not lose."

Alexandre Guimaraes was pleased to be going away from the Fatorda Stadium with a point, but far from happy with FC Goa's perceived failure to reciprocate Mumbai City's spirit of 'fair play'.

"In the first half, we were twice in very clear goal situations but still put the ball out [because a Goa player was injured]. Game after game, we've respected the idea of 'fair play' [but the opponent hasn't responded]. Again, today, the referee didn't protect us," the Mumbai coach said.

Guimaraes stated that he would instruct his players to put a stop to this generosity. "If we try to do something and other teams don't do it, we're not going to continue," he said. "I'm not that innocent; come on."

The Costa Rican looked on the bright side of the result. "We're still in the top four. Sometimes, when you can't win, you better not lose."

Zico, in contrast, cut a frustrated figure. "We have to give credit to both goalkeepers; they played very well," he said. The Goa coach explained his decision to switch to an attacking system in the second half. "I don't regret putting the team in that formation. Of course we were taking a risk against a team of Sunil Chhetri, Sony Norde, and Diego Forlan, but we created chances. Both Robin Singh and Julio Cesar had great chances."
