Brazilian club Corinthians today >announced the completion of a loan deal between the club and New York City FC to bring Colombian striker Stiven Mendoza to New York City until the end of the season.

Mendoza, who played in the Indian Super League for Chennaiyin FC, won the ‘Golden Boot’ by scoring the 13 goals in 16 matches in the 2015 season.

The loan move comes several months after Corinthians’ ex-president Andrés Sanchez said he would be sold for approximately $3.6 million. The Colombian may have questioned his future at the Brazilian club after being loaned out to Indian club Chennaiyin FC for successive seasons.

He will now join the likes of Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and David Villa in the NYCFC squad.

Mendoza represented Colombia at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria and the 2011 South American U-20 Championship in Peru.
