CG Open: Rashid Khan slips to second spot
India’s Rashid Khan, carding a one-over-71, has taken the second spot after three rounds.

India’s Rashid Khan has slipped to the second spot, carding a one-over-71 in the third round at the CG Open at the Bombay Presidency Golf club. Rashid now has a tally on nine-under-201.
N. Thangaraja, from Sri Lanka, holds the lead, posting a four-under-66. After 54 holes, he has a total of 10-under-200.
India’s Yashas Chandra, with a tally of eight-under-202, settled in the third place. Chandra, a Mysuru-based golfer, carded 68 in the third round.
Slip-up
The leader of the pack — Rashid — had started the round well. Rashid (68-62-71), a two-time PGTI Order of Merit champion, birdied three of the first five holes. However, he had a disastrous stretch from the 13th to the 15th where he dropped a bogey and followed this with two double-bogeys, the latter coming as a result of three-putts. After stuttering in the middle of the back-nine, Rashid recovered just in time with two birdies on the last three holes to keep himself in the contest.

India’s Sanjeev Kumar (70) — from Lucknow — was fourth place at seven-under-203. Shamim Khan from Delhi (66), Abhijit Singh Chadha (69) from Chandigarh, and Digvijay Singh (70) from Gurugram, were tied fifth at six-under-204.
Chiragh Kumar’s bogey-free 64 was the day’s best score. It helped the golfer, based out of Delhi, claim the tied-eighth spot at five-under-205.
Among other Indians, Anil Bajrang Mane, from Mumbai, was tied 44th at five-over-215.
