Gaurika clinches maiden title

Gaurika Bishnoi’s 71 in the final round helped her clinch her maiden title in the third leg of the Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club course here on Friday.

Gaurika totalled 218 for three rounds to record a four-stroke victory. The Gurgaon girl got two birdies, on fourth and ninth, and a bogey on fifth to have a decisive one-stroke advantage on her front nine. She gained another shot on 14th but dropped one on the penultimate hole on her back nine.

Saaniya Sharma, the other golfer to have played an under-par final round, carded a three-under 69 and settled for the second place.

Overnight leader Trisha Sunil, who had a forgettable round of 83, finished tied third with Mehar Atwal on 228.
