PGTI CG Open: Rashid Khan triumphs

His final round seven-under 63 for a 16-under 264 pushed 2016 champion Shamim Khan (67, 71, 66, 64: 268) to second place.

Rashid Khan, a two-time PGTI Order of Merit champion took home Rs.16,16,500, catapulting him from 98th to 19th in the current list.

Delhi’s Rashid Khan rediscovered his form to coast to a comfortable four-shot victory in the ₹1 crore PGTI CG Open at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club here on Saturday.

His final round seven-under 63 for a 16-under 264 pushed 2016 champion Shamim Khan (67, 71, 66, 64: 268) to second place.

The two-time Asian Tour winner, who returned last day’s best score, was third time lucky at the CG Open since two runner-up placings twice before. The CG Open triumph accounted for Rashid’s 10th professional title and eighth win on the PGTI.

Khan (67-71-66-64), the 2016 champion, came up with a flawless final round of six-under-64 to finish runner-up at 12-under-268. 

Rashid (68-62-71-63), lying overnight second, one behind third round leader N Thangaraja, made a birdie-eagle-birdie run from the third to fifth followed by two eight-footers. He consolidated his lead to three shots with another birdie on the ninth.
