Mario Arques celebrates after scoring Jamshedpur FC's third goal of the evening.
The host had a good opening half thanks to fantastic pile-driver from the Spaniard Morgado. The rasping half-volley from nearly 25 yards packed incredible power and precision and was placed well beyond Chennaiyin goalkeeper Karanjit Singh's reach.

Chennaiyin FC started well by keeping possession of the ball and also made a couple of early raids before Morgado’s strike turned the tide in the home side's favour. Jamshedpur took control of the proceedings there on and pressed ahead in search of a second goal.

The constant pressure eventually pried open the Chennaiyin defence in the 28th minute. Jamshedpur earned a penalty as Michael Soosairaj cracked a right-footed drive from top of the box and forced Karanjit to make a diving save. However, the clearance went only as far as Sumeet Passi inside the 6-yard box. But the forward didn't get a chance to shoot as he was brought down by Chennaiyin defender Jerry Lalrinzuala. Calvo had no problem in finding the back of net from the resultant penalty.

Chennaiyin tried to regroup after the break and found its efforts yielding results as it was awarded a penalty in the 66th minute. Gergory Nelson was brought down inside the Jamshedpur box and Brazilian midfielder Raphael Augusto scored from the spot to give his side a shimmer of hope.

However, Mario Arques sealed the tie when he nodded home a Calvo corner in the 72nd minute to power his side to a comfortable victory.
