ISL 2018-19: Highlights of the season so far
Team Sportstar

/ 5
A Spaniard leads the way: He was the top-scorer in the league last season, with 18 goals in 20 appearances, and Ferran Corominas is leading the race for the Golden Boot this season as well. He has eight goals in six appearances, an average of a goal every 66 minutes. With a joint-high four assists to his name, Corominas is proving his versatility to the team. And, at this moment, he is easily the most valuable player for FC Goa. (Ritu Raj Konwar)

The team misfiring at both ends: The team that is still winless and has scored the least and conceded the most goals so far, FC Pune City finds itself below the table after halfway into the league. Miguel Portugal was sacked after three matches into the season and Pradyum Reddy, the caretaker manager, has been unable to spark a turnaround in the four matches since. With only two points to its name, Pune appears to be losing the race for a playoff spot. (ISL Image)

The magic of clean sheets: Four goals scored, none conceded and nine points gathered; Mumbai City FC has shot up to third on the ISL table with a hat-trick of wins, which have been achieved by keeping three successive clean sheets. Though two of those wins — against Delhi Dynamos and Chennaiyin FC — who are placed eighth and ninth on the table. However, Mumbai is reaping the rewards of playing with a solid, unchanged back four of Souvik Chakraborty, Lucian Goian, Joyner Lourenco, and Subhasish Bose. Behind them is Amrinder Singh, who has the most clean sheets (three) in the league. (ISL image)

The player who’s doing them all: Sergio Cidoncha (on left in the image), one of the four Spaniards recruited by the club in the close-season, is leading the way for Jamshedpur FC. The 28-year-old has been exceptional so far with his goals, assists and tackles. He has scored three goals and made three assists but the standout stat is the 24 tackles, which is the highest for a forward in the league this season! (AP photo)

The free-scoring league leader: FC Goa has scored 21 goals in seven matches this season, an average of three per match. If it maintains this rate of scoring, Goa is on course to better the all-time record, its own, of most goals scored by a team in an ISL season (43 in 2017-18). --- ISL image
