A Kabaddi fest that seeks to integrate sport into education

Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, the fest works on the principle of 'Samagra Shiksha' and the vision to make 300 million children play for 60 minutes everyday.

The Fest aimed to promote Kabaddi through CII’s vision of making 300 million children playing sports 60 minutes daily.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised a Kabaddi Fest at Ludlow Castle Sports Complex in New Delhi on Monday. The event saw 16 teams, eight girls and eight boys teams, participate from schools across Delhi NCR.

The fest aimed to harness young talent from schools towards making sports an integral part of education in the region and also promote Kabaddi through CII’s vision of making 300 million children playing sports 60 minutes daily.

Mount View Senior Secondary School from Bahadurgarh, Haryana won the tournament in girls category and P. S. Kharkhoda, Haryana school won the boys category.

Veditha Reddy, Deputy Commissioner, S.P. Zone, North Delhi Municipal Corporation said, “CII’s theme on Making India Play on making 300 million children playing sports 60 minutes daily will help kids take up sports and develop a sporting nation.”

Deep Mukherjee, CEO, CII National Committee of Sports & Head of Sports Development, Star India, said, ”We need to look at school sports with the lens of education. Sports should be an integral part of the school curriculum for children. We are looking at creating new opportunities for the children across the country by integrating sports and education towards realising the dream of Samagra Shiksha and the vision of making '300 million children playing 60 minutes daily'.”
