Haryana Steelers signed Monu Goyat for a PKL record of 1.51 crore last season, but have opted against retaining him for the upcoming edition.

The 'Elite Player Retention' list for the seventh edition of the Pro Kabaddi League was announced on Monday. Among the top names to be retained are Pawan Kumar Sehrawat (Bengaluru Bulls), Pardeep Narwal (Patna Pirates), Ajay Thakur (Tamil Thalaivas) and Fazel Atrachalli (U Mumba).

Interestingly, the four Indians who were bought in excess of 1 crore during last season's auctions- Monu Goyat (Haryana Steelers - 1.51 crore), Rahul Chaudhari (Telugu Titans - FBM - 1.29 crore), Nitin Tomar (Puneri Paltan - 1.15 crore) and Rishank Devadiga (UP Yoddha - FBM - 1.11 crore) - have all been released by their respective squads.

Deepak Niwas Hooda, who was bought by Jaipur Pink Panthers for 1.15 crore, was the costliest Indian player retained. While most teams retained a minimum of two elite players, Puneri Paltan was the only team to release all of them.
