Qualification process:
The priority order for qualification places will be:
1. All athletes with Olympic Qualifying Times (OQT / “A” Time)
2. Athletes in relays
3. Universality Places
4. Invited athletes who have achieved an Olympic Selection Time (OST / “B” time)
Olympic qualification time:
In the Olympics and World Championships, if the full quota of swimmers to take part in a particular event are not filled by those who crossed the A standard, those who achieved B standard will be called upon to compete.

India watch: Sajan Prakash became the first Indian to achieve the 'A' standard and a direct qualification in swimming by clocking 1:56:38 seconds in the men's 200m butterfly event at the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome. Srihari Nataraj made it two direct qualifications by securing the 'A' cut in the 100m backstroke with a qualification time of 53.77 (seconds) swam in the time trial at the Sette Colli Trophy. Maana Patel has been nominated for the universality place on the women’s side. |
