Indian shooting team reaches Suhl for Junior World Cup

India had topped the medals table at last year's Junior World Cup with 15 golds and a total of 26 medals.

The biggest and best, a 54-member Indian shooting contingent has reached Suhl, Germany, for the Junior World Cup scheduled to be held from Sunday. The pre-event training is scheduled for Saturday. The Indian team, with rifle, pistol and shotgun shooters, left in batches on Wednesday. Shreya Agrawal, Anish Bhanwala, Arjun Singh Cheema, Mehuli Ghosh, Hriday Hazarika, Vivaan Kapoor, Manisha Keer, Udhayveer Sidhu, Vijayveer Sidhu, Adarsh Singh, Esha Singh, Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Elavenil Valarivan will be some of the leading shooters, expected to deliver the medals.

India had topped the medals table last year with 15 gold and a total of 26 medals. China was second with 21 medals including six gold. About 55 countries are expected to field 652 shooters. Host Germany will have the second largest contingent of 40 shooters. Russia (36), China (34), Czech Republic (34), Italy (32), US (31), Britain (29), France (28), Poland (25) and Japan (20) will be other countries with big teams.
