Patna Pirates cruised to a 33-24 victory over Bengaluru Bulls on the opening day of the Bengaluru leg of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) here on Wednesday.

It was disappointing outing for the home fans at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, as Patna seized the initiative before the end of the first-half, and kept up the pressure until the end of the encounter.

The two sides, however, were evenly-matched in the early minutes. At 7-7, the visitor switched gears. A superb tackle started the Patna roll, and before long, the home team was relegated to a 'lona'.

Bengaluru fell 8-17 behind as a result of the all-out, and minutes later, the interval arrived with Patna holding a commanding 20-10 lead. There was no way back for Bengaluru from here.

Patna was well served by its strong defence, which contributed 11 points to the cause. Sandeep Narwal (5 points), in particular, held firm in the face of raids. The Bengaluru antis, on the other hand, could only manage five points.

On the offensive end, Bengaluru's Amit Rathi stood out with 10 points, but it was not enough to prevent his team from falling to its first loss in two fixtures.

Patna, meanwhile, recorded a second-straight win.

In the second engagement of the day, Puneri Paltan sunk Dabang Delhi to its third consecutive loss.
