ISSF World Cup: Apurvi Chandela breaks World Record, shoots goldOn being asked about her feelings regarding the World record she has set: "I was just concentrating on getting my shots right, did not think about record." The national anthem plays as Chandela proudly watches the tricolour being hoisted! NRAI President Raninder Singh presents Chandela the gold medal. • Since Apurvi already has an Olympic quota, Hong Xu and Ruozhu Zhao bag quotas. • GOOOOOOOLD! Apurvi Chandela does it! The home crowd is up on its feet as she hits a 10.5. This is a World Record as well! Chandela leaps over the previous milestone of 252.4, set by Ruozhu Zhao in April 2018 in Korea, as the former hits a 252.9. • DOWN TO THE WIRE! One shot and a difference of 1.1 now! Apurvi leads. • SHOOTOUT FOR GOLD BETWEEN RUOZHU and APURVI! • Hong Xu has to settle for bronze. Final score- 230.4 • The audience goes crazy as Chandela keeps up her electrifying performance! After 21 shots, Chandela, who is now assured of a medal, has a lead of 0.9 over Hong. • China's Yingjie Zhu eliminated too after 20 shots. Final score- 206.7 • Korea's Eunseo Lee walks back. Final score - 186.5 • What a comeback! Apurvi moves table top after 17 shots. She is 0.2 points ahead of Ruozhu who earlier today had shattered the qualification world record. Score -178.2 • Singapore's Xiu Yi Ho gets eliminated after 16 shots. Final score - 165.2 • Apurvi Chandela after 16 shots is at the second position and she is just 0.1 points behind table-topper Hong Xu. • Japan's Shiori Hirata has been eliminated after 14 shots and a shootout. Final score- 144.6 • Jeanette Hegg Duestad has been eliminated after 12 shots. Final score- 122.9 • After 10 shots, Apurvi Chandela stands fourth on the leaderboard with 104.6 points. Zhu Yingjie tops the table with 105.1 points. The Start List is out for the Women's 10m Air Rifle Qualification and the final promises to be exciting! Apurvi Chandela is the only shooter representing India. |
• In the Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions (MQS Extra) Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar finishes table top, scoring 1169 - 58x [Kneeling - 393, Prone - 393 and Standing - 383]
• Sanjeev Rajput finishes fourth in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Elimination Relay 2. He notched 1173 - 55x.
• Meghana Sajjanar folds at 625.3 points in the Women's 10m Air Rifle Qualification- MQS Extra round.
• Chinki Yadav finishes at 288 points and three places ahead of Sarnobat Rahi in the Precision round of the 25m Pistol Qualification event.
• Meanwhile, Elavenil Valarivan notches 625.3 points to hold the 30th slot on the 10m Air Rifle Qualification leaderboard.
• Whoa! China's Zhao Ruozhu shatters the world record by scoring 634.0 in Women's 10m Air Rifle Qualification. She goes past the previous mark of 633.4 set by Zhu Yingjie in May 2018, updates our correspondent Kamesh Srinivasan from the centre.
• Chinki Yadav scores a 95 in the first series of the Precision round in the 25m Pistol Qaulaification event.
• Manu Bhaker puts up a scintillating show at the range! Scores 296/300 in the Precision round. If she manages to start on Sunday from where she is leaving off today, and scores 298 in the Rapid round, she will equal the World record.
• Meanwhile, Akhil Sheoran has completed all the rounds and here is a roundup of his scores: Kneeling - 385, Prone - 386 and Standing - 381.
• Here's how the Indians fared in the 50m Rifle 3 position:
• And she is up top right away! At the end of the first series Manu leads with a score of 98 in the 25m Pistol Precision round.
• Ladies and gentlemen! We have the Sportstar Aces' Young Athlete of the Year, Manu Bhaker , taking her first shot.
• Annu Singh Raj tops the 25m Pistol (MQS) table currently with a score of 287- 12x (95, 98 and 94)
• Akhil Sheoran, at the MQS Extra category of the Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions, is trailing behind China's Li Jiahong and USA's Brandon Kyle Muske. Here is his target map:
• At the end of Relay 1 of the Women's 10m Air Rifle Qualification, Apurvi holds the second position, below China's Zhu Yingjie. Moudgil is at eighth. Relay 2 starts at 11:45 PM IST.
• A 381 and 386 is what Parul Kumar ends up with at the end of the Prone round. He is presently four positions below Chain Singh who is at 34.
• Chain Singh completes the Prone position with 389 points. In the kneeling round he had scored 380.
• Mehuli Ghosh finishes with a score of 631 and currently sits at the top of the table. The maximum points in this round is 654.
• Annu Raj Singh at the MQS Extra- Precision round at the Women's 25m Pistol Qualification is at the second position on the leaderboard with a score of 95 in the first series.
• The Precision round has started at the Women's 25m Pistol Qualification and Rahi Sarnobat is at 7th as of now with a score of 96 in the first series.
• At the Women's 10m Air Rifle Qualification, Apurvi Chandela is into the fifth series and has shot 515. Meanwhile, Anjum Moudgil, into the last series now has shot 544.2.
• At the Women's 10m Air Rifle (MQS Extra) Mehuli Ghosh has collected 420.2 out of a maximum possible 436, after the first four series. We have two more series to go.
• Meanwhile, Akhil Sheoran has shot a 385 (95,95,98 and 97) in kneeling position at the MQS Extra in Men's 50m Rifle 3 position.

Anjum Moudgil, Apurvi Chandela and Elavenil Valarivan will lead India's charge in women's 10m air rifle event on the first day of competition at the season-opening ISSF shooting World Cup on Saturday.
The immensely talented Mehuli Ghosh will also shoot in Minimum Qualification Score (MQS) at the Dr Karni Singh Range.

They are among 102 competitors from 44 nations in the fray in the women's 10m event. India has secured both its Olympic quotas in the event through Moudgil and Chandela at the World Championships last September.
With the International Olympic Committee (IOC) revoking the two quotas in the 25m rapid fire pistol event owing to non-issuance of visas to Pakistan shooters, the tournament will now offer 14 quotas for the 2020 Olympic Games instead of the original 16.

Around 500 shooters from 60 nations, including 23 competitors from host country India, will compete for top honours -- medals and quotas.

Besides the men's 25m rapid fire pistol and the two 10m mixed team air rifle and air pistol events, the rest of the seven events in the five-day competition will distribute two Olympic quotas each.
India has already won the maximum possible two quota berths in the women's 10m air rifle event and will compete for 12 quotas in six events, besides trying to win medals.

It is a world-class field comprising at least six former and reigning Olympic champions, seven former and reigning world champions and several Olympic and World Championship medallists as well as Asian Games and Commonwealth Games champions.
For the first time ever, an International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup will be telecast live in 80 countries.
