Junior Shotgun Cup: India dominates junior women's skeet

Areeba Khan pipped Simranpreet Kaur 46-44 for the gold, after qualification topper Ganeemat Sekhon (68) was pushed to the third spot, in a field of six shooters.

Areeba Khan, Simranpreet Kaur and Ganeemat Sekhon swept the junior girls medals in the International Junior Shotgun Cup.

India swept all three medals in junior women’s skeet in the International Junior Shotgun Cup in Finland on Saturday. Areeba Khan pipped Simranpreet Kaur 46-44 for the gold, after qualification topper Ganeemat Sekhon (68) was pushed to the third spot, in a field of six shooters. In junior women’s trap, the Indian team bagged the silver medal. In the individual category, Manisha Keer was fifth after having squeezed her way into the final following a tie shoot. In junior men’s trap, Lakshay was on 45 after two rounds, one point behind the leader, while Manavaditya Rathore was on 43. Hamza Sheikh and Anantjeet Singh Naruka were on 47, two points behind the leader Matteo Chiti of Italy. Ayush Rudraju (45) and Indreshwar Sekhon (40) were the other Indians who will go through three more rounds before the top six make the final.
