Olympian Sanjeev Rajput beat qualification topper Satyendra Singh by 7.6 points in the men’s rifle 3-position event in the 17th Kumar Surendra Singh shooting championship which concluded at the Dr. Karni Singh Range in Tughlakabad on Tuesday. It was a commendable performance by Sanjeev as he sustained the big lead, built over 30 shots during the kneeling and prone stage, in the standing position. Satyendra had topped qualification with 1166 points, while Olympian Chain Singh (1164) pipped Parul Kumar by 0.5 point for the bronze. In continuation with the assembly of the best shooters from around the country, two sets of national selection trials will be held from Wednesday in rifle and pistol events.

Men: 50m rifle 3-position: 1. Sanjeev Rajput 461.0 (1161); 2. Satyendra Singh 453.4 (1166); 3. Chain Singh 442.5 (1164). Juniors: 1. Nishant Dalal 449.8 (1143); 2. Akash Patidar 447.5 (1125); 3. Syed Araib  Parvez 438.2 (1125).
