Vinita and Mukund win air rifle mixed gold

The Indian pair beat the German team of Maran Prediger and Soren Meissner by 0.4 point for the gold, by scoring 490.7 in the final.

World University champion Vinita Bhardwaj and Mukund Agarwal won the gold in mixed air rifle in the International Shooting Competition of Hannover, Germany.

The Indian pair beat the German team of Maran Prediger and Soren Meissner by 0.4 point for the gold, by scoring 490.7 in the final. The duo had topped qualification with 832.2 points. Vinita was best in qualification with 420.5 points, as she had a series of 104.8, 104.5, 106.1 and 105.1.

There was a good haul of other medals for the Indian team, as Amanpreet Singh, Arpit Goel and Gurpreet Singh won the gold in the men’s air pistol, rapid fire pistol and standard pistol events respectively. Amanpreet Singh also won the free pistol silver.

Gagan Narang won the men’s rifle 3-position silver behind Yuriy Yurkov of Kazakhstan.

Lajja Gauswami fared better as she got the women’s rifle 3-position gold with an impressive score of 451.8 in the final, after having topped qualification with 1165.
