Some matches of the Asian Squash Championship were shifted to the Indian Squash Academy on Thursday, after the court at the Express Avenue Mall was damaged . But the organisers have made it a point to ensure that the action returns to the mall.

On Friday morning, tournament director Cyrus Poncha issued a statement claiming that Friday’s fixtures will go on at the Express Avenue mall as per schedule. “The matches were only shifted to the ISA courts as a temporary measure last night when it was noticed that one small area in the back-corner of the court in the Express Avenue mall had developed a minor under-layer shifting,” Poncha said, adding that they worked quickly to get things in order.

“There was no damage to the court, but to avoid delay and since ISA courts were available as an alternative a decision was taken,” he added.

To ensure that things were smooth, the players from India, Hong Kong and Malaysia visited the mall on Friday morning to check things out.
