Joshna knocked out of Women’s World C’ship

Joshna Chinappa bowed out of the Women's World Championship in the second round with a 3-11, 6-11, 3-11 loss to Laura Massaro of England.

Joshna Chinappa, the highest-ranked Indian squash player among women, has been defeated in three games by Laura Massaro of England in the second round of the Women’s World Championship in Kuala Lumpur. In 26 minutes, Chinappa, ranked 14, lost 3-11, 6-11, 3-11 to bow out of the competition.

Laura will now play the quarterfinal against either Delia Arnold or Omneya Abdel Kawy.

Dipika Pallikal, the other Indian having participated in the event, has earlier been knocked out in the first round by Hong Kong’s Annie Au.

In the first round, on Monday, Joshna had defeated Victoria Lust of England 11-8, 11-3, 11-5.
