Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino had more than one reason to celebrate after his side's 4-1 rout of Liverpool on Sunday.

Not only did his side demolish Liverpool, but Pochettino's former roommate, Argentinian legend Diego Maradona was present in the stands watching it as well.

Pochettino and Maradona played together briefly and were roommates for one season in 1993 during their time at Argentine club Newell's Old Boys.

“I saw him before in the manager’s room,” said Pochettino. “It was so emotional and difficult to let him go because when you are in front of Maradona you want to speak with him, stay with him and share a moment with him.”

He added, "To meet him again is fantastic. He is the best player ever in football. He is massive. He remembers every moment we played at Newell's Old Boys. That's what makes him special.

"Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris were introduced to him."

Pochettino added: "He brings very good energy. He is the best player ever in football history.

"I am so happy for our fans, in front of Diego Maradona, Kobe Bryant... a fantastic day for us."

Also present to witness the match was NBA legend Kobe Bryant , who gladly posed for pictures with goal-scorer Harry Kane post the match.
