3: the number individual fifties registered in this year’s IPL by players below the age of 19 years. This season have seen the maximum number of 50s by these youngsters. Overall five of them have achieved this landmark at a young age, with Prithvi Shaw doing so on two occasions!

Q1. Does Ankit Rajpoot’s recent five wicket haul for Kings XI Punjab make him the only non-international bowler in IPL to do so? – Ali Khan, Ajmer
A1. Yes, he is the first non-international (or uncapped) bowler to claim a five-wicket haul in IPL. The previous record was held by former Rajasthan Royals’ off-spinner Ajit Chandila, who claimed 4/13 in his four overs against Pune Warriors at Jaipur in 2012, that included a hat-trick!
Q2. Is Shubman Gill the youngest KKR batsman to make a fifty? – Ajoy Sarkar, Kolkata
A2. Yes. Shubman Gill (18y-237d) is by far the youngest KKR batsman to register a fifty in IPL cricket. The previous youngest was Sri Lankan Angelo Mathews, who was 22 years 283 days when he made an unbeaten 65 for KKR against Deccan Chargers at New Mumbai in 2010.
Q3. So far how many IPL hat-tricks have been taken by bowlers and how many of the hat-tricks have come in lost matches? – Kirti Suresh, Pune
A3. So far, 14 bowlers have claimed 17 hat-tricks in IPL cricket, with Amit Mishra and Yuvraj Singh doing so on three and two occasions respectively. Eleven bowlers have claimed 13 hat-tricks in winning causes, with Mishra on the winning side on all three occasions! However, four bowlers (Yuvraj, Sunil Narine, Shane Watson and Samuel Badree) have done so for losing sides!
Q4. Can you please provide details of Brendon McCullum’s century for KKR? – Anil Sawant, Baroda
A4. Brendon McCullum’s unbeaten 158 for KKR against RCB at Bangalore came in the inaugural IPL game on April 18, 2008. He was then the first batsman in T20 cricket to make a 150+ score. Before that the highest record score was held by Aussie Cameron White, who made an unbeaten 141 for Somerset against Worcestershire on July 9, 2006. The details of McCullum’s knock, which came in 73 balls are as follows: dots (19), 1s (22), 2s (9), 4s (10), 6s (13). Incidentally his 158* was the highest in IPL for five years, 5 days, until Chris Gayle made 175* for RCB on April 23, 2013 at the very same ground!
