4 The number of occasions West Indian bowlers managed to claim a wicket off the very first ball of a T20I match. Lleft-arm pacer Obed McCoy became the latest West Indian to do so in T20I cricket in the second match in Basseterre in St. Kitts on August 1 2022. Incidentally, Rohit Sharma became the second Indian opener, after Prithvi Shaw (against Sri Lanka at Premadasa, Colombo, on July 25 2021), to be dismissed off the first ball of a T20I match.

So far, three T20I players, while leading their respective sides, have the dubious distinction of being dismissed so, with Ireland’s captain Porterfield being the only one to be dismissed on two occasions. Incidentally, Rohit became the second Indian captain to be dismissed on a golden duck after Shikhar Dhawan (against Sri Lanka at Colombo RPS on July 29 2021).

0 The number of occasions an opposition bowler has claimed a five-wicket haul against India in a T20I match before West Indian Obed McCoy’s 6/17 in the second match in Basseterre on August 1 2022. Before this effort, the best figures against India were the 4/9 by Sri Lankan Wanindu Hasaranga at Premadasa in Colombo on July 29 2021.

Incidentally, McCoy’s figures of 6/17 are the best by a West Indian bowler in T20I cricket. The previous best was the 5/15 by Keemo Paul against Bangladesh in Mirpur on December 22 2018.

For the record, McCoy’s figures are seventh best in T20I cricket and the fourth best by a bowler from a Test-playing nation after Deepak Chahar (6/7) and Ajantha Mendis (6/8 and 6/16).

5 The number of occasions a left-arm bowler has claimed a six-wicket haul in T20 internationals. However, McCoy’s figures are now the best by a left-arm bowler from a Test nation.

66 The number of runs conceded by West Indian paceman Obed McCoy in the fourth match of the series in Lauderhill on August 6 2022. This is now the maximum runs conceded by a West Indian bowler and overall, the eighth-most runs conceded by a bowler in a T20I match. Interestingly, just five days prior to this, McCoy, in St. Kitts, on August 1 2022, had claimed 6/17, which was the best bowling figures for the West Indies & overall the seventh best figures in T20I history.

1 The number of occasions spinners have managed to claim all 10 wickets in a T20I innings. In the final match of the series in Lauderhill, the three Indian spinners (Axar Patel 3/15, Kuldeep Yadav 3/12 and Ravi Bishnoi 4/16) achieved the rare feat of sharing all the 10 wickets that fell in the West Indies innings. This is the first time in T20I history that spin bowlers from a side have managed to claim all 10 opponent wickets in the same match.

16 The number of T20I matches won by India in this calendar year, so far. This is the most number of matches won by Team India in a year. Last year, Pakistan had won 20 games, which is currently the T20I record for a team. With several matches to be played this year, India is well on course to surpass Pakistan’s tally.

4 The number of losses in a bilateral T20I series for the West Indies. This is the first time the Caribbean side has lost four games in a single series. On seven other occasions, it had lost three games in a series.
