Ned Denison, 61, covers 36 km in less than eight hours
Denison’s 7 hours and 51 minutes journey was overseen by an official appointed by the Swimming Federation of India.

Irish swimmer Ned Denison swam the 36 km stretch from the coastal town of Alibaug in Raigad to the Gateway of India on Wednesday in 7 hours and 51 minutes.
The 61-year-old swimmer’s journey was overseen by an official appointed by the Swimming Federation of India who said Denison covered the distance in 7 hours and 51 minutes.
“It was a good swim. I was friends with Shubham Vanmali (a marathon swimmer from India), who wrote an email to me and said `why don’t you come to Mumbai and swim?’"
“I booked my ticket and came here but I still don’t know why I was doing it. I did it for fun,” Denison told PTI from Jaipur, a day after he achieved the feat.
The swimmer from Ireland claimed he has done 48 marathon swims across the World.
He said the swim from Alibaug to Gateway of India was a “challenge and one of the warmest swims” of his career.
