Fed Cup: China beats India 3-0

China proved too strong for India as it registered a 3-0 victory in the second league match of the Fed Cup Asia-Oceania women’s tennis tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Thursday.

Ankita Raina was defeated by Lin Zhu 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

Ankita Raina stretched the 118th-ranked Lin Zhu to three sets, but China proved too strong for India as it recorded a 3-0 victory in the second league match of the Fed Cup Asia-Oceania women’s tennis tournament in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Thursday.

Having lost to Japan earlier, India will be up against Philippines in its last league match in its bid to stay in Group-1. In the other group featuring only three teams, host Kazakhstan looked set to top the table ahead of Korea while Thailand was staring at the possibility of figuring in the relegation play-off.

The results (league): China beat India 3-0 (Kai-Lin Zhang bt Karman Kaur Thandi 6-4, 6-4; Lin Zhu bt Ankita Raina 6-3, 3-6, 6-4; Zhaoxuan Yang and Kai-Linn Zhang beat Riya Bhatia and Snehadevi Reddy 6-2, 6-3).
