Hong Kong trains at DLTA ahead of Fed Cup challenge

The team will play the Asia-Oceania Fed Cup group-1 women’s tennis event scheduled to be played from February 7 to 10.

The Hong Kong team, coached by the former Indian Davis Cupper Karan Rastogi, had its practice stint at the DLTA Complex on Friday, to prepare for the Asia-Oceania Fed Cup group-1 women’s tennis event scheduled to be played from February 7 to 10.

For India, the former Asian junior champions Pranjala Yadlapalli and Rutuja Bhosale arrived before the rest to acclimatise to the conditions. The main show courts at the facility have been resurfaced and used for the semifinals and finals of the recent Asian Under-14 championship.

The other members of the Indian squad - Ankita Raina, Karman Kaur Thandi, Prarthana Thombare - along with reserve player Zeel Desai, were expected to join the squad soon.

India, captained by former Fed Cup player Ankita Bhambri, has been clubbed with China, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. The other group will have Japan, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Korea.
