Siddharth Vishwakarma wins Gondwana Cup

National champion Siddharth Vishwakarma beat Jayesh Pungliya 6-4, 7-6(5) in the final of the Gondwana Cup Rs.10,00,000 AITA ranking men’s tennis tournament at the VIP Club on Friday.

It was the best fight that Siddharth had in the tournament, as he had only dropped a total of 16 games in winning the earlier four rounds.

"Last year also I had won the Gondwana Cup. It feels good to win it again. I am planning to compete in the ITF circuit in Europe. I want to go there with my coach’’, said the wiry left-hander, who trains with coach Kamlesh Shukla.

The champion was presented Rs.1,30,000 and the runner-up Rs.90,000. 

The doubles title was bagged by Sahil Gaware and Mohit Mayur, as they beat Parikshit Somani and Yash Yadav 10-7 in the super tie-break.

The doubles champions were presented Rs.63,000 and the runners-up Rs.33,000.
