Jerusalem Challenger: Saketh Myneni crashes out with straight-sets defeat

Saketh Myneni lost 3-6 1-6 in the semifinals of the Jerusalem Challenger against Filip Peliwo.

Filip Peliwo continued to be a thorn in the flesh of the Indian players, as he outplayed fourth seed Sakety Myneni 6-3, 6-1 in the semifinals of the Jerusalem Challenger tennis tournament in Israel on Saturday.

The ninth-seeded Peliwo had earlier beaten Sasi Kumar Mukund in three sets, after recovering from the brink of defeat. The Canadian broke serve four times, from five breakpoints and himself did not face a single break point in the match.

Saketh collected 29 ATP points and $2,510.

In the quarterfinals of the ITF men’s Futures in Uganda, in which the third set became a super tie-break, Abhinav Sanjeev Shanmugam prevailed over William Bushamuka of the US 10-8 in the decider. In the pre-quarterfinals, Anirudh Chandrasekar missed a match point in the third set tie-break and was beaten 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-6(7) by Giovani Samaha of Lebanon.

Anirudh combined well with NIki Poonacha to make the doubles semifinals with a 6-3, 7-6(3) win over Ahmed Choudhary and Muzammil Murtaza of Pakistan.
