Volleyball Federation of India President Chaudhary Avadhesh Kumar was today unanimously elected as Executive Vice-President of Asian Volleyball Confederation in the 21st AVC General Assembly Meeting, here today.

Kumar was also elected as President Asian Central Zone, AVC and Member of AVC Administrative Board — a first instance in national Volleyball when an Indian occupies the prestigious post.

“We are pleased to inform that Shri Chaudhary Avadhesh Kumar, President, Volleyball Federation of India has been unanimously elected as Executive Vice-President of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), President Asian Central Zone, AVC and Member of AVC Administrative Board in the 21st AVC General Assembly Meeting concluded today at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,” read a media release.

“This is great achievement and history for Indian Volleyball that a person from Indian origin has become the President of Asian Central Zone of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) for the first time.

“Volleyball fraternity is elated to receive this great news and wholeheartedly congratulate our President,” the release, which was undersigned by the Secretary General of VFI Ram Avtar Singh Jakhar, added.
