India's Sundar Singh Gurjar won a silver at the Para Asian Games in 2018.

SUNDAR SINGH GURJAR

Age: 23

Going into the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Gurjar was one of the favourites for the gold medal in javelin, but he missed a roll call and was disqualified even before the start.

He made up for the disappointment by winning a gold medal at the World Championships in 2017. At the PCI Indian Open Para Athletics championship in Bengaluru this year, he won a javelin gold (F-46) with a 64.11m throw, better than Rio Olympic gold medallist Devendra Jhajharia’s 63.97m record.

He also won a silver at the Para Asian Games in 2018, falling short by 51 cm for a gold.

Suyash Jadhav won three medals at the Para Asian Games in 2018.

 

SUYASH JADHAV

Age: 29

Suyash Jadhav, a 24-year-old swimmer, made history at the Asian Para Games by becoming the first Indian to win three medals in any major international event.

He won a gold in the 50m butterfly event, bronze medals in the 200-meter individual medley and 50m freestyle event in the S-7 category of Para Asian Games.

At the Berlin Para Swimming Championship, he took a silver in 100m butterfly category and finished fourth in 200m IM.

In December 2017, he missed a World Championship podium by a whisker, finishing fourth in 200m IM and 50m butterfly.

MANOJ SARKAR

Age: 29

Ever since he made his debut at National para-badminton championship in 2011, Manoj Sarkar has been collecting a rich haul of medals at the national and international stage.

A two-time world champion, he became World No. 1 para shuttler in January 2018. In 2018, he won a gold medal at Dubai Para-Badminton International, and added another at the Turkish Para-Badminton International.

At the Para Badminton National championship, Manoj settled for the silver after losing the \u001Fnal to Pramod Bhagat, who also defeated him in the final of Thai Para Badminton.

At the Para Asian Games, Manoj bagged two bronze medals (singles and doubles). His feats earned him an Arjuna Award.
