Mohit, Kartikey in shot put final

Haryana’s Mohit, the youth national champion, and Delhi’s Kartikey progressed to the boys shot put final in the IAAF World Under-18 Athletics Championships in Nairobi on Thursday.

Mohit (17.55m) and Kartikey (17.87) finished fifth in their respective groups in the preliminary round.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s Abhishek Ubne (14.09s) and Odisha’s Punga Soren (14.34) failed to qualify for the boys 110m hurdles semifinals after finishing fifth and last in their respective heats.

And in the girls’ 800m heats, Delhi’s Ankita Chahal was disqualified for a lane infringement.

Lemao fastest

South Africa’s Lemao Tshenolo emerged as the fastest boy after winning the 100m in 10.57s on Wednesday night. His compatriot Mlenga Retshidisitswe was second in 10.61.
