Rohit Yadav breaks U-18 national javelin record

Haryana’s Poonam Rani (women, 49.53m) and Jyoti (under-18, 44.86m) won gold in their respective categories while Bihar’s Anjana Kumari (44.84m) and Gujarat’s Dhruvi Parmar (34.79m) won the under-20 and under-16 titles.

Rohit Yadav broke the under-18 national record in the National Javelin Throw Open in Sonipat on Monday.

Rohit Yadav, who was in doping trouble a couple of years ago, broke the under-18 boys national record with a preliminary round throw of 81.75m (old record 79.29m) in the National Javelin Throw Open at the SAI Regional Centre, on Monday. The final will be held on Tuesday.

A few finals were held on Monday and Haryana’s Poonam Rani (women, 49.53m) and Jyoti (under-18, 44.86m) won gold in their respective categories while Bihar’s Anjana Kumari (44.84m) and Gujarat’s Dhruvi Parmar (34.79m) won the under-20 and under-16 titles.

Vikrant sparkles

Meanwhile in the second National 400m Open in Lucknow, Haryana’s Vikrant Panchal sparkled with a 48.06s time in the under-20 boys semifinal. The finals are scheduled tomorrow.

Haryana’s Pankaj Malik, 21, was the in the men’s semifinal with 48.54s.

Girls: Under-20: 1. Anjani Kumari (Bih.) 44.84m, 2. Kajal Parmar (Guj) 42.38, 3. Sanjana Choudhary (Raj.) 41.87.

Under-18: 1. Jyoti (Har) 44.86m, 2. Komal Arora (Raj) 44.77, 3. Amisha Solanki (Guj.) 41.74.

Under-16: 1. Dhruvi Parmar (Guj) 34.79m, 2. Tannu Singh (UP) 33.02, 3. Arju (UP) 29.74.
