At the end of a hard-fought contest of 80 minutes, China’s Chen Long clinched the Badminton Asia Championship title with a 21-23, 21-11, 21-10 victory over fourth seed and compatriot Lin Dan. Tai Tzu Ying claimed the women's singles crown with an 18-21, 21-11, 21-18 victory over Akane Yamaguchi.

The first game in the men's singles final went neck-and-neck until Lin Dan won two points in a row at 21-21 to take the game. It was to be an aberration, however, as Chen Long ensured total dominance in the next two sets. In the second set, he remained in the lead throughout after 2-2, and in the third, the most one-sided game of the three, he remained in the lead throughout after 1-1.

In the match, Chen Long had seven consecutive points in a row at one point, outlining his superiority on the day.

The women's singles final lasted 59 minutes, and was more closely fought. Tai Tzu Ying was, in fact, trailing until 9-9 in the deciding game, before pulling ahead. Although she kept her lead intact thereafter, her opponent was not far behind.

In the women’s doubles final, Japan’s Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi defeated Hye Rin Kim and Yoo Hae Won of South Korea 21-19, 16-21, 21-10. In the mixed doubles final, Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong defeated Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai 21-18, 21-11.

The men's doubles title was won by Li Junhul and Liu Yuchen, who defeated Huang Kaixiang and Wang Yilyu 21-14, 21-12.
