Vijender Singh is unbeaten in his 10-bout pro boxing career.

Vijender Singh's pro-boxing career took a blow on Monday as the pugilist suffered an injury during a sparring session and sustained six stitches on his left eyebrow.

This makes him unavailable for his first fight in the US, which was scheduled to be held in Los Angeles on April 12.  "There’s a bad news for my fans, I got injured during the sparring session and sustained six stitches on my left eyebrow.Unfortunately will not be able to fight on 12th April in LA(USA)," Vijender posted on Twitter .

The injury occurred when he was struck by a sparring partner’s elbow. “It happened during a sparring session a couple of days ago and I got stitches on my left eye. It is disappointing to be out of action for something like this, but this is how life is,” Vijender told Sportstar .

His promoters, IOS Boxing, made it clear that a new date for his bout would be announced once he fully recovers. “The cut is quite deep and it would take him a while to completely recover. Only after that, we will think about the next move,” one of the officials said.

The Indian boxing ace was to make his debut in the American professional circuit against a yet to be named opponent. Vijender has been training under Hall of Famer Freddie Roach, who shaped the likes of Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao. Unbeaten in his 10-bout pro career, Vijender recently relocated his training base to Los Angles to train at the ‘The Wild Card Boxing Club’ under Roach, a 2012 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee.
