India wins silver at World Youth Chess Olympiad

The team comprising GM Erigaisi Arjun, IM P. Iniyan, Koustav Chatterjee, Sankalp Gupta and WIM Divya Deshmukh won seven out of nine rounds.

India, with 14 match points, won the silver medal at the World Youth Chess Olympiad, which concluded at Konya, Turkey on Monday.

The team comprising GM Erigaisi Arjun, IM P. Iniyan, Koustav Chatterjee, Sankalp Gupta and WIM Divya Deshmukh was coached by GM Srinath Narayan.

Uzbekistan bagged the gold with 16 match points (MP) while China stood third, with 13 MPs. Forty six teams including 39 countries participated in the Olympiad.
