Ajinkya Rahane's struggle with the bat continued as he fell for another duck in Hampshire's second innings against Essex in a County Championship Division One 2019 at Chelmsford on Monday.

In the first innings on Sunday, the India Test vice-captain was caught by wicketkeeper Adam Wheater off paceman James Porter in the fifth over, after facing just two balls.

The dismissal in the second essay was nothing different, as he fell to Porter, caught by Wheater for a first-ball duck.

After opting to bat, Hampshire was all out for 118 in its first innings and in reply Essex replied with a 214 all out.

Earlier in the week, Rahane, who did not make it to India's 15-member World Cup squad, scored a century on county debut. He scored 119 off 197 balls (14 fours) in the second innings against Nottinghamshire at the Newclose County Cricket Ground.

Rahane had a disappointing IPL stint too, scoring 393 runs in 14 matches for the Rajasthan Royals, with one century.
