Promising young cricketer Shubhang Hegde received a rare chance to rub shoulders with his idols on Wednesday, when he was called to bowl at the Indian team’s net session at NCA here.

It was exciting experience for Shubhang, who went up against the likes of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair. The 15-year-old left-arm spinner even had some of the senior pros playing and missing. Shubhang came into the limelight last season, when he scored over 1000 runs and picked up close to 90 wickets in various age-group tournaments. The junior Karnataka State team member has also made a mark in league cricket. “This was my first time at an India camp. I didn't interact much with the players or coaches, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” Shubhang said.

The 10th standard student bowled alongside R. Ashwin, Jayant Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav in the spinners’ net. The attack also included India coach Anil Kumble, who more than held his own by consistently landing his leg-breaks on the right areas.
