The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to start its domestic season with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, beginning in September. And the tournament will be followed by Vijay Hazare Trophy in November, while the Ranji Trophy will be held in December.

In the apex council meeting on Friday, it was decided that the Deodhar Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup will be scrapped this season keeping the COVID-19 in mind.

"As of now, the plan is to have as much cricket as possible, but given the COVID-19 situation, we will have to take a closer look in the coming months. We plan to have the T20, One-dayers and Ranji Trophy," a BCCI official, who attended the meeting, told

Sportstar .

In the Annual General Meeting last year, the Board had proposed a compensation package for the domestic cricketers for a curtailed season. However, that was not discussed in the meeting.

Women's tours

The women's team will travel to England in June, followed by a series against Australia in September-October. In November, the West Indies team will travel to India for a limited overs series and just before the World Cup, the team will travel to New Zealand for a tri-series. Efforts are on to conduct a full-fledged domestic season.

T20 Challenge

Three teams will feature in the T20 Women's Challenge, to be held during the IPL playoffs. While the venue is yet to be decided, it is understood that Delhi could be the frontrunner. "There were plans to have one more team, but COVID-19 restrictions meant that an additional team cannot be fielded this year," the official said.

Madan Lal-led CAC to pick women's head coach

It is understood that the existing Cricket Advisory Committee, headed by Madan Lal, will appoint the women's head coach, while the selection committee will pick the support staff. As per the BCCI constitution, a Cricket Advisory Committee has to pick the head coach. The Board had invited applications a few days ago after W.V. Raman's tenure expired.

BCA issued show cause notice; Shukla, Dhumal to spearhead J&K committee

The Board has issued show cause notice to the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) for hosting the unsanctioned T20 league, defying the Board's diktat. It has been decided that henceforth all state T20 leagues will have to follow a stringent rule. BCA will have to submit a compliance certificate in 15 days stating that its constitution is in line with the Supreme Court order.

However, as far as hosting T20 leagues are concerned, the cooling off period of 15 days after the IPL has been waived off. Earlier, no leagues could start right after the IPL, but now that has been done away with, paving the way for more cricket.

The Board also decided that vice-president Rajeev Shukla and treasurer Arun Dhumal will spearhead the ad-hoc committee for the development of Jammu and Kashmir cricket. The Court had directed the BCCI to take care of the cricketing affairs in Jammu and Kashmir.

Visas to Pakistan players and media

The Indian government has given permission to approve visas of Pakistan players and the media for the T20 World Cup, the BCCI informed the apex council. A call on the fans' visa will be decided by the home ministry later.
