CoA prepares a short list for Ombudsman slot

The BCCI has not appointed an Ombudsman after the tenure of Ajit Prakash Shah came to an end last November.

The BCCI has not appointed an Ombudsman after the tenure of Ajit Prakash Shah came to an end last November, and the Committee of Administrators (CoA) has been receiving grievances from all parts of the country. Sources said that the CoA has prepared a short list of half a dozen candidates from which the BCCI may be asked to choose during one of the meetings to be held here on Friday and Saturday. The CoA has chosen retired judges, as per the Justice Lodha Committee recommendations.

The CoA has scheduled a meeting with the 31 member units of the BCCI here on June 25 in order to discuss the way forward to implement the Supreme Court order of July 18, 2016 that validated the Lodha recommendations. It’s being speculated that most members would ask the CoA to hold all matters related to the Lodha recommendations in abeyance until July 14 when the Supreme Court resumes to hear petitions filed by many State associations.
