The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced a substantial hike in prize money for senior domestic tournaments for men and women. While the hike in men’s prize money ranges between 60 per cent and 300 per cent, the two women’s tournaments have seen a hike in excess of 700 per cent.

For the men’s circuit, the Ranji Trophy champion team will now take home ₹5 crore (up from ₹2 crore), while the losing finalist and semifinalist will earn ₹3 crore (₹1 crore) and ₹1 crore (₹50 lakh), respectively.

The one-day champion and runner-up will get ₹1 crore (₹30 lakh) and ₹50 lakh (₹15 lakh) from now. The domestic T20 tournament has got the most hike in terms of prize money. The revision was announced by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on his social media handle.

The women’s senior one-day and T20 trophy champion and runner-up will finally start earning a significant prize money, instead of a notional amount that was handed over till date. As a result, the one-day champion outfit will earn ₹50 lakh (₹6 lakh) while the T20 champion side will be rewarded with ₹40 lakh (₹5 lakh).
