Ambidextrous Mokit Hariharan catches Mike Hussey's attention

Former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey is keen to witness the development of TNPL's ambidextrous spinner Mokit Hariharan.

Former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey picked ambidextrous spinner Mokit Hariharan of VB Kanchi Veerans as his favourite in the ongoing edition of the TNPL 2018. “He is a bowler who can use both his hands effectively and I would like to watch his development in the next few years,” he said during an interaction with the students at the Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology grounds here on Friday.

RELATED:Hussey admits to ‘tricky’ TNPL conundrum The Aussie star, who was here to launch the fifth edition of Sri Shakthi Super Trophy (a South India level cricket tournament for schools), said the TNPL is the best example for the youngsters to prepare themselves for the higher level. “There are many upcoming players and this is definitely healthy for India.” He also shared his playing experience with the Chennai Super Kings and showered words of praise for M.S. Dhoni. “He is a natural leader who treats everybody nicely and that prompts us to play well for him,” said Hussey.

“He also handles pressure situation well. He would come around and tap on the players’ shoulder and tell them not to worry much. I consider myself lucky and blessed to have played with him, Sachin, Dravid and V.V.S Laxman. They all played the game hard and with the right spirit.” Hussey lauded the efforts of the College chairman Dr. S. Thangavelu, its secretary Dheepan Thangavelu for having taken the efforts to host the Sri Shakthi Trophy that carries a one lakh prize money.
