  • That ends our coverage of the ninth round of the Ranji Trophy. Till the quarterfinals, which begin on January 15, it's goodbye.

  • Here are the eight teams for the quarterfinals: (From Elite Groups A and B) Vidarbha, Saurashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, and Gujarat; (from Elite Group C) Team Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh; (from Plate Group) Team Uttarakhand.

  •  

  • And, with half an hour left, the teams agree to a draw in Kolkata, too. Punjab gets three points, and Bengal one. It's of no use to either team as neither of the teams has been able to secure a quarterfinal spot.

  • In Kolkata, Manpreet Singh Grewal departs after having scored a half-century for Punjab. He hit six sixes and two fours in his 28-ball 58. With Mandeep Singh also having been dismissed, Punjab is five down. It is 41 runs away from victory.

  • The contest is drawn in Kanpur. Assam's Gokul Sharma reaches his century, and the teams agree to a draw. Uttar Pradesh has three points.

  • In Nadaun, Kerala trots home (crossing its target of 297 in 67 overs) for a five-wicket win. It was a tight contest; Sachin Baby (92, 134b, 8X4, 1X6), Vinoop Sheela Manoharan (96, 143b, 11X4), and Sanju Samson (61 n.o., 53b, 5X4, 2X6) were the architects of the spirited chase. Sanju hit the winning runs, reports M. R. Praveen Chandran .

  • In Rajkot, Vishwarajsinh Jadeja gets to his first first-class century, and the teams agree to a draw. Saurashtra has three points from the contest due to its first-innings lead.

  • In Chennai, the contest is drawn. Tamil Nadu and Delhi agree to a draw after Tamil Nadu had got to 113 for 1 in its second innings. The host takes three points due to the first-innings lead, and Delhi gets one point.

  • For Kerala, Sanju Samson has a quickfire half-century. He has taken 48 balls to get to the landmark, having hit three fours and two sixes. Kerala is six runs away from victory.

  • In Rajkot, Sheldon Jackson has his half-century and Saurashtra (against Vidarbha) has crossed the 200-mark. Vishwarajsinh Jadeja, having hit 13 fours and two sixes, is batting on 99. The lead is 286.

  • In Chennai, Tamil Nadu's openers have been separated after a partnership of 89. B. Aparajith, opening the innings, falls to Lalit Yadav for 33. N. Jagadeesan, the other opener, is batting on 53. The team has an overall lead of 195.

  • Punjab loses its third. Yuvraj Singh departs, run out by Dinda. Punjab 38 for 3.

  • Punjab has lost its second wicket. It's 25 for 2 now. Anmolpreet Singh departs for 6.

  • Shubman Gill is bowled by Ashoke Dinda for 8 runs. Punjab 25/1.

  • Latest update from Nadaun by M.R. Praveen Chandran: At tea, Kerala is 255 for four. Sachin Baby is batting on 79. Sanju Samson is batting on 30. Kerala needs 42 more to win.

  • The match between Nagaland and Puducherry ends in a draw with Nagaland's second innings at 208/3. Nagaland gets three points after taking a first innings lead. Puducherry earns one point.

  • Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal makes a surprise decision to declare the 1st innings despite his team trailing Saurashtra by 76 runs. Vidarbha 280/9 dec.
  • Bengal captain Manoj Tiwary reaches his second hundred of the season in 162 balls (10x4, 1x6). Abhimanyu Easwaran batting on 120. Bengal 251/2, trails by 9 runs.
  • Nagaland sets Puducherry a target of 404 runs. Both Zhimomi 63 not out and Abrar Kazi 60 complete their fifties and Nagaland captain R. Jonathan decides to declare as soon as Kazi was out in Rohit. D's bowling.

- Rishi Dhawan  once again played a counter-attacking innings of 85 and shared a rapid 106-run third wicket stand with  Ankit Kalsi  (64) to put Himachal in command against Kerala. ( Report )

- Uttarakhand  needed a win to make it to the quarterfinals of the  Ranji Trophy  and the Rajat Bhatia-led side secured a massive innings and 56 run-win over  Mizoram. ( Report )

- Chasing a daunting victory target of 343, Madhya Pradesh was bowled out for 35 with pace bowler  K.V. Sasikanth  producing a dream spell of 8-4-8-6. ( Report )
