Ranji Trophy: TN loses home games to rain

This year, the Ranji Trophy features four groups which means a team only has six matches in the year unlike previous years and it is understood Tamil Nadu did not want to take chance with rains.

With only three matches remaining, Tamil Nadu might need two outright wins and possible rain interruptions would be far from ideal.

With the incessant rains in the city over the last ten days, Tamil Nadu’s last two Ranji Trophy matches against Madhya Pradesh and Baroda will be moved out of Chennai.

With only three matches remaining, Tamil Nadu might need two outright wins and possible rain interruptions would be far from ideal. Tamil Nadu had already lost out on a chance to press for victory against Tripura last month because of rain and bad light. In fact, the Tripura match was originally scheduled to be played in Agartala but was moved to Chennai because of weather.

Baroda Cricket Association secretary Snehal Parikh confirmed to Sportstar that the last round match will be played in Baroda and the venue is likely to be the Reliance Stadium. The Madhya Pradesh match will be played at Indore. Tamil Nadu’s fourth match starts on Thursday against Odisha in Cuttack.
