Vijay Hazare Trophy: Parthiv ton guides Gujarat home

Bengal thrashes Mumbai by 96 runs

Chasing 289, Andhra allowed pressure to build up on itself by losing regular wickets and wilted eventually. It lost the first five wickets for a mere 39 runs, and the last five for 67 runs. Only two batsmen got to two-digit scores, and only D.B. Ravi Teja mustered more than 10 runs—the second highest individual score of the innings hit by opener D. B. Prasanth Kumar. Ravi Teja managed 44 off 64 balls with three fours and two sixes. He fell to Bumrah, who had him leg before wicket and bowled P. Vijay Kumar a ball later to close the match out. The 33-run sixth wicket stand between Ravi Teja and Siva Charan Singh (9) was the best partnership in Andhra's innings.

Karnataka cruises to seven-wicket win over J&K

Earlier, put in to bat, Gujarat was driven to 288 for seven by three seventy-plus partnerships. Parthiv, who was dropped on 27 off and by left-arm seamer Stephen, and again off Stephen on 79 by Sriram at midwicket, was involved in two off those—71-run second wicket stand with Samit Gohil, and a third wicket stand with Bhargav Merai that yielded the same amount of runs. Parthiv was caught behind off Ayyappa Bandaru, looking to go big on the leg side with too big a bat-swing.

Mann turns Punjab's Man Friday

Rohit Dahiya (53 not out, 39b, 3x4, 3x6) and Jesal Karia (34, 27b, 3x6) added 79 runs for the seventh wicket to propel Gujarat to the score it ended up with. Dahiya's inside-out six over deep extra cover off Bandaru, and Karia's back-to-back sixes—over cow corner, and over long-on—off Bandaru again were the most remarkable of highlights from their union. Gujarat amassed eighty-seven runs off the last ten overs for the loss of only one wicket - that of Karia who played the ball on to his stumps off Bandaru.

Ojha does it for MP

In another match at Murugappa, Madhya Pradesh beat Goa by seven wickets. After Snehal Kauthankar’s 94 guided Goa to 290-8 in 50 overs, Madhya Pradesh reached the target in 38.1 overs, with Naman Ojha remaining unbeaten on 105.
